Solutions / Taxonomy Manager

Naming conventions defined centrally, validated amd automatically monitored.

Agreed rules, validated before the data lands, enforced everywhere.

The Challenge

The problems we see every time.

Every team comes to us with a different naming problem. The inconsistencies are always different. The cause is always the same — no enforced standard, and data that's been wrong for longer than anyone admits.

Every report starts with a renaming exercise.

Before you can slice the data by campaign type, you have to fix the names. Some use underscores, some use pipes, some abbreviate differently. Half an hour every time, forever.

One typo and a campaign disappears from reporting.

A new campaign goes live with a name that doesn't match the taxonomy. It doesn't roll up correctly, it misses the filter, and nobody notices until the numbers look wrong at the end of the month.

Nobody owns the taxonomy, so nobody maintains it.

There's a naming guide somewhere. It was written two years ago, it's been ignored ever since, and the person who wrote it has left. You're back to square one every time a new platform or channel gets added.

What we do about it

How we solve it.

The pillars we put in place to design and implement a robust approach to taxonomy and naming conventions.

  • Taxonomy design workshop

We run sessions with your teams and agencies to capture requirements and define the new naming conventions that work for every platform, channel.

  • Taxonomy Manager deployed

Taxonomy Manager configured with your new naming convention. Formulae populated, values and validation loaded and signed off.

  • Integrated Validation

Taxonomy Manager prevents creation of partial or incorrect names. New values are flagged for approval, preventing dupication and typos.

  • Automated monitoring and QA

Pipeline Manager identifies any non-compliant names entering the data stream and flags them for review / rename.

  • Bulk migrations and historic clean-up

Historic naming inconsistencies mapped and corrected in the data model, so old campaigns roll up correctly without touching the source platforms.

The change

Inside Taxonomy Manager.

A centrally-managed, auditable workflow solution for defining new naming conventions and generating fully-compliant trafficking worksheets.

FAQs

Common questions

Do you work with our existing naming conventions?

Yes. We start from what you have, identify what's causing problems, and build an improved standard from there. We don't throw everything out and start over unless we have to.

Do we need to change historic names? ?

No. We can have new rules in place for names created in our Taxonomy Manager, and not process old names. We can carry out bulk re-caetgorisation of old names to align with the new taxonomy.

Can this work across multiple brands?

Yes. The taxonomy model is designed to handle multiple brands, either within one new global convention or with depsrate conventations per brand. We'll pick the right approach during workshops.

Does this require changes to our ad platforms?

Not necessarily. Validation can be applied at the pipeline layer rather than the platform layer, depending on your setup. We'll recommend the right approach for your stack.

Ready to fix your naming conventions for good?

We'll review your current taxonomy, where the inconsistencies are causing problems, and design a set of rules that work across every platform, team, and agency.
