Some important frequently asked questions and answers to help you understand Bright Analytics better. If you still have any questions please get in touch.

Unlimited Data Sources

  • Yes. Bright Analytics is designed to be able to cater to the most complex and demanding reporting challenges.

  • Absolutely. We designed the platform to be able to bring disparate data sources together seamlessly. Our report engine lets you map your data sources to a flexible and scalable data model that can analyse any number of data sources and bring the resulting data into a single report.

  • We have 50+ integrations ready for you to connect to with a few clicks, so you can get up and running with a new data source in minutes.

  • We will refresh your data in line with how often the data is refreshed by the data platform we’re connecting to. We can pull data hourly, at set frequencies through the day, at set times on certain week days only or on a set day of the month as required.

  • We can provision an sFTP server for you to upload data to or for scheduled extracts to be placed on : we can then setup automated ingestion of these files. You can send reports to a designated mailbox or we can provide you with access to a self-service data upload interface.

Dynamic Data Model

  • Yes. Bright Analytics lets you map any number of data sources to a seamless, unified data model that can easily be extended and scaled as your needs evolve.

  • Absolutely. You can define metrics which read from multiple data sources, you can create metrics which have any level of nesting : for exmple, a cost metric summing spends across mutliple platforms can then be used in CPC / CPA / ROI calculations.

  • Yes. You can define a colour palette for a dashboard instance, giving you control over how metrics are coloured as well as consistency and easie recognition from link data labels to specific colours.

Security

  • Your data is encrypted-at-rest, protected by a configurable firewall, stored on servers in the region of your choosing, protected by extensive network monitoring, multi-factor authentication and best-practice application security.

  • Bright Analytics runs on Amazon Web Services, with data stored in the EU by default.

  • You do – it’s your data. We don’t use it for anything other than powering your analytics requirements, and at your request will delete / return any and all of the data we hold for you.

  • Bright Analytics is compliant with GDPR. We only store the essential information required for your use of our platform, we won’t pass your data on to any third parties and the sub-processors we work with – for example, helpdesk and support system software, are GDPR-compliant. Any questions relating to data privacy or GDPR should be directed to dpo@brightanalytics.com

  • Yes. We can run your dashboard instance on a dedicated server and place a cutom firewall around that server, allowing traffic only from selected IP addressed

  • Yes. If you already have a data warehouse we can configure the Bright Analtytics report engine to read directly from an existing database structure.

  • Yes. We can turn on multi-factor authentication on request.

Custom Dashboards

  • Yes. You can build any number of dashboards, with any layout, showing whatever data you need to show with a wide choice of visualisations.

  • You can build and share as many dashboards as you need. We don’t charge for the number of dashboards you build.

  • Yes. Power users can build template dashboards and use these as the basis for a consistent, easily maintained, suite of insights that are easily filterd to show the appropriate context.

  • Yes. Dashboards can be shared with users or groups of users, and access levels assigned accordingly to ensure the right balance of control and flexibility for users to explore and inteact with their data.

Powerful Visualisations

  • Bright Analytics supports dozens of visualisations and variations of them, from simple pie charts and bar charts, to multi-axis charts with infinite drilldown, to heat maps, geographical maps, gantt charts, scorecards with integrated period comparison, as well as custom interactive visualisations for path analysis, channel overlap.

  • Yes. You can assign specific colours to metcis and data labels, override these if required in specific charts. Your colour palette is customised to match your branding.

  • Yes. You can have any number of axes, and can control the visulisation of each, whether it shares axes with other plots, how the axis scales and where it is positioned on the chart.

Custom Calendar

  • If your business runs on a non-standard week, has a custom financial year or needs to report on custom periods then you can integrate your business calendar seamlessly into the Bright Analytics date picker.

  • Yes – you can set your weeks to start on whatever day you want.

  • Yes. If your business has seasonal periods you want to easily report on – for example a sale period or other key period within the year, these can be plugged into Bright Analytics.

Sharing & User Management

  • You can have as many users as you need. We charge partly based on the number of user licences you require.

  • Yep. You can create any number of custom user groups and assign users to the relevant groups.

  • Yes. Each folder or dashboard you create can be shared – or explicitly not shared – with certain user and groups to ensure everyone see just what they need to. Access to make changes to shared content can also be set per group or user.

Multiple Currency Support

  • Bright Analytics can work with data in any currency.

  • We can ingest data with spend or revenue data in any currency and convert to a single, comparable currency to sit alongside the local market currencies, providing a simple way to have a reliable, accurate overview across all markets whilst maintaining the necessary detail to let local market teams to do their reporting and optimisation.

  • We can either work with the exchange rates prevailing at the time data was ingested or you can provide us with hedged / coprorate exchange rates that apply to specific date ranges.

Real Time Collaboration

  • Bright Analytics is built on a modern, real-time application that instantly publishes changes made, either to data or dashboard configuration, across all users currently logged in. This makes collaborating on dashboard design with clients / remote staff incredibly quick and easy as both parties can see and discuss changes in real-time.

  • Yes. If you have the right to edit a dashboard then when you make and save a change to report, dashboard layout, or visualisation setting that change will insatntly be reflected for others users currently viewing the content you’ve changed.

  • Yes. When our platform finishes refreshing a data source it sends a message to the dashboard to update any reports that depend on the updated data source and these will refresh themselves to show the latest data.

  • Yes. If you send a link to the dashboard you’re working on to your colleagues, they will be able to observe and comment on the changes you make.

Flexible Infrastructure

  • Yes. We understand the important of knowing where your data is hosted and we can provision database storage in a range of regional data centres to meet your needs.

  • Yes. If you have an existing data warehouse Bright Analytics can be configured to read directly from data held there.

  • We do run some on-premise deployments in order to meet specific security or technical requirements, and are happy to discuss bespoke deployments.

Dashboard Snapshots

  • Bright Analytics lets users create a dashboard snapshot – essentially a point-in-time view of a particular dashboard – for easy sharing, bookmarking and reference during calls with clients and colleagues.

  • A dashboard snapshot is the perfect way to share commentary with clients and colleagues. A snapshot can have commentary added to it, be shared with users or groups via email. Timeslices are a very efficient and convenient way to share detailed insights with clients, whether it be for ad-hoc analysis or regular reporting.

  • Yes. Once you’ve made a snapshot you can share it through Bright Analytics with any number of users or groups.

Custom Domains and White label

  • Absolutely. By default customer dashboards run on a sub-domain of brightanalytics.io but we can host a custom domain for an entire agency’s client base or a branded domain for a direct customer.

  • Of course. Agencies can apply their logo to all their dashboard instances, as well as their clients’ own logos.

  • Yes. We can create a custom stylesheet for an agency to ensure consistency with their branding across colours, fonts and certain bits of the user interface.
